The seminal World Literature Today magazine has opened calls for its student translation prize. See below for requirements: Who can enter? The contest is open to all students, worldwide, enrolled in translation studies programs. What can they submit? An entry is a prose piece of up to 1,000 words or up to three poems, translated into English. Each piece must be accompanied by a professional cover letter. That letter must include the name of a sponsoring faculty member from the translation studies program as well as confirmation that the translated author has given permission for the translation. The Malinda A Markham Translation Prize -- which honors the life and work of poet and translator Malinda A. Markham -- is open to submissions through the end of October. Organizers are looking for manuscripts that are "a translation by a female translator of a female poet. Female is interpreted as anyone who identifies as female, including AFAB nonbinary, genderfluid, agender, and intersex." The manuscript, they write, "must be an original collection of poetry from one author in any language translated into English. This includes single collections as well as selected works. The White Review has opened calls for submissions for its exciting new anthology of writing in translation. They write: We are open to submissions for writing previously untranslated into English, including excerpts from novels, full-length short stories, narrative non-fiction and crónicas. We accept excerpts from forthcoming translations, though we are prioritising writing that is not yet under contract with English-language publishers, or work by authors who have never been published in English.
